Following a National Front demonstration in nearby Heywood, a rooftop demonstration by the "North West Infidels" and the "Combined Ex Forces" is held on Bury Town Hall. Police said the group had climbed up scaffolding at the side of the Town Hall building to gain roof access. Protesters have affixed banners stating "Hang paedo scum" and various nationalist slogans .
