Riot police fight running battles with people throwing rocks and planks in the streets around the hotel in to the night. Hundreds of far-right wing extremists riot and attack anti-fascists, police and a Holiday Inn Express hotel accommodating asylum seekers, setting fires, fighting and throwing missiles. Disorder has broken out in several English towns and cities following far-right demonstrations sparked by false rumours circulated on social media about the perpetrator of a mass stabbing which killed three children and injured many more, in Southport.
